“Nate consistently looks for opportunities to contribute across multiple projects and goes above and beyond his scope. He delivered a POV deck for highlighted notifications and executed creative design work to kick-start the Netego system sprint. I’ve been impressed with Nate’s proficiency with Figma design systems and graphic design. His creative exploration stood out in the Netego system sprint, and our Facebook product design partners remarked on the originality of his designs. They also identified a stronger bottom-sheet pattern for our Instagram upsell and got my buy-in to change directions. Nate is very comfortable developing strategic narratives and generating a wide range of ideas, and I appreciate how he’s evolved his presentations and style throughout the half to tailor to different audiences. He’s a great team member who is flexible, open to feedback, and sends individual updates for input. He works closely with other designers and leads to drive progress efficiently, and evolves based on feedback to scale as a system. Nate is thorough and has a fast turnaround time.”

“Nate collaborated beautifully with other designers to co-lead the redesign of the Switcher notifications experience over the last six months, with minimal direction amidst much ambiguity. Nate is a subject matter expert on notifications. He developed clear templates with logic and patterns for our notification highlights. This required a deep understanding of user behavior and preferences, and knowledge of the design and technical restrictions within the Switcher surface. This strategy ensures consistency with our product principles across all Switcher surfaces, protecting the user’s experience. He also led on additional notification strategy work and collaborated closely with engineering to assess notification inventory, test designs, and set up effective ways to convey high-value content to users without increasing noise on Switcher. He continually advocates for Switcher, user needs, and product principles. He effectively navigated important limitations, such as keeping Switcher lightweight, pass-through, and accessible, to ensure it remains user-friendly and efficient.”

“This half, Nate effectively served as the VP of Design for what I refer to as a growing eSIM startup within Meta. Despite him transitioning off the carrier monetization team only two months ago, I still really feel the gap created by Nate’s absence. His contributions played a significant part in the team’s success this half. He helped launch our product with three partners and greatly exceeded our T-Mobile customer acquisition cost goal. He heavily invested in our product quality, including making sure designs functioned with translations into other languages and user-friendly messaging for complex calls to action. He effectively collaborated across engineering and legal to facilitate design and content changes, optimizing user value. He drove the MVP platform process, establishing design and content guidelines for the MVP (minimum viable product) experience, and reached alignment with T-Mobile to unblock scaling of our product to more partners next half. He also onboarded a new designer, Joanna, to the team, making sure there were no gaps in his transition to the core growth team, including ongoing support until she was fully ramped up.”

“Nate is a great research partner. I really enjoyed working with him on multiple UXRs this year, where he was an integral part of the success of these projects. In H2, we worked together on the ASUM UXR, during which Nate joined a research trip to New York City. Throughout this project, Nate was proactive, organized, and enthusiastic. For the purpose of the research, he helped develop a very complex eSIM flow and created design and content for numerous screens so we could learn from participants how to optimize the flow. He proactively sought feedback from key stakeholders throughout the preparation process and pivoted when necessary. He took on different roles every day of research and was an active contributor in daily debriefs and discussions with the team. In this way, he provided useful learnings and perspectives that helped me craft the final insights and recommendations from our research. He was also key to the iterative design process, where he adapted content and designs throughout the week. In fact, he even created new screens based on participants’ signals, which allowed us to get feedback during the process on our hypothesized solutions and optimizations. This work enabled us to test these and reach much stronger conclusions and practical takeaways.”

“During this year, Nate was able to quickly adapt to the needs of the project, from adjusting the content and design of T-Mobile US based on their seemingly infinite requests, to exploring different language and design for the Direct Switch flow, to supporting the implementation of our new partner Vodafone, which became a major priority overnight. One of the things that makes Nate unique is that he’s never the blocker. He always works proactively to ensure design and content changes are delivered well in advance of when they’re due, and he brings new ideas that help better engage users within the flow. This all took place during wartime in Israel, where the carrier monetization team is based, and I was impressed by how Nate was able to help with several things, like preparing Figma files ahead of partner sales meetings and setting up processes that helped keep the project running smoothly, avoiding any sense of chaos despite limited staffing.”

“Nate is a reliable and diligent design partner. He constantly provides quick, actionable feedback that helps the Switcher team meet tight deadlines, and he operates efficiently, enabling the team to move fast and deliver high-quality work. Nate continues to build upon the complicated Switcher design system with careful consideration. He thinks about how Switcher plays with ephemeral elements such as toasts and links (profile links, acquisition initiatives) and with more specific elements such as device sharing and unlinked accounts. He explores all solutions in great detail, laying out his thinking process and how each of his proposed frameworks scales across the Family of Apps. His diligence and documentation enable quick alignment and well-defined systems within our partner teams, which include the Family of Apps and the rest of the cross-app experiences. For WhatsApp, Nate carefully addressed ambiguous content and UX issues for both linked and unlinked users. He created different frameworks and drove alignment across stakeholders, including executive leadership, despite differing app requirements, and he proactively created a new user experience for unlinked users, improving clarity and actionability based on user research insights. He also provided detailed, system-level guidance as our product information architecture evolved, developing frameworks to clarify account groupings and navigate complex content, especially when it came to linking and acquisition. When the team gathered for a war-room meeting, his communication of the changes enabled the team to gain alignment rapidly with Instagram leadership.”
